Week 5 - 9/28/2015

Wow, what a big week this is!  On the plus side, we'll get a lot of stuff out of the way before Spirit Week.

Good news!  No vocab quiz this week!

Instead, we have two tests and a college application essay due.  You'll be so rested and refreshed by the time you take the SAT on Saturday!

Here's the agenda for 9/28/2015.  Watch those dates!

  • Earnest test on Wednesday (open book / open notes)
  • application essay (first draft) due on Thursday
  • Things Fall Apart journal due and test on Friday (open book)
If anything falls through the cracks, let it be the recommendation letter proofs.  I know you'll get those done.

Congratulations on finishing the summer reading exam!  Now we can get on to the stuff you need to do (college applications) and the stuff that's fun to do (Earnest).  Remember that we will be reading the play in class and you will need to read the book outside of class.  Multi-tasking is good prep for college, too!

English 12H Overview

Welcome English 12H students!

I'm very much a paper handout kind of guy, but I'm going to try to be a more conscientious blogger this year.  I'm already giving you a paper agenda at the beginning of each week, but who hangs on to important papers any more?  I figure if I do my homework on a regular basis, I can make it easier for you to do your homework on a regular basis.  At the very least, I can give you another stable place to locate your assignments and handouts.

For example, where's that pesky Summer Reading handout?

Or how about the Course Syllabus I passed out today?

Missing the Weekly Agenda for 9/1/2015

Man, I sure could use that list of words and definitions for Vocabulary 1.

Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to lug our big honking silver anthologies back and forth? Couldn't we read the next four stories online?  Of course, we can!

Good luck this semester!
